Quality Specialist for the Food Industry @ Reus

We are looking for a Quality specialist for the Food industry with experience in the management, supervision and coordination of quality compliance of food ingredients and products.

The position is primarily office-based, with possible visits to customers and/or suppliers as required. A high level of English is required to interact with customers and suppliers.

Minimum requirements:

  1. Education:
  • Degree in Food Science and Technology, Chemistry, Biotechnology or other scientific/technical disciplines.
    • To be assessed: Related Master's degree
  1. Work experience:
  • 3 to 5 years experience in quality in the food industry.
  • Experience in internal, customer and supplier audits.
  • Participation in continuous improvement projects or implementation of quality systems.
  1. Technical expertise:
  • Food Safety and Quality Legislation and Standards/Requirements (BRCGS, IFS, FSSC 22000, HACCP, etc.).
  • Document management of FSMS
  • Competence in office automation tools and quality management software.
  • Valuable: SAP / CRM user level knowledge.
  1. Soft skills:
  • Problem solving with an analytical and creative approach.
  • Proactivity in process improvement and results orientation.
  • Leadership and project management skills.
  • Communication skills to interact with operational and management teams.
  1. Languages:
  • Native Spanish and Catalan.
  • Advanced English (able to write reports, make presentations, interact with international suppliers and understand technical regulations).

Responsibilities and tasks to be performed:

  1. Develop the quality strategy at organisational level.
  2. Implement initiatives to identify risks and optimise internal quality-related processes.
  3. Manage quality complaints from receipt to resolution, ensuring customer satisfaction.
  4. Analyse non-conformities detected in products or services, and propose effective solutions.
  5. Manage approvals of new ingredients and suppliers.
  6. Evaluate and audit national and international suppliers to ensure compliance with quality and safety standards.
  7. Review and validate suppliers' technical documentation (data sheets, certificates, specifications) and keep the database up to date.
  8. Check the compliance of ingredients with local regulations and those of the target markets.
  9. Generate periodic reports on complaints, supplier performance and regulatory compliance.
  10. Manage and provide the necessary technical support to the commercial team to resolve customer queries related to ingredients.
  11. Participate in the development of new products and ingredient mixtures to validate their suitability within the framework of food safety legislation and regulations.
